Hey everyone! I got the chance to try out the new Ferris Wheel yarn from Lion Brand, and I enjoyed it so much that I whipped up this easy crochet cowl pattern in about four hours. Which, for me, is pretty impressive! I was so into it that I just couldn’t put down the hook.
Ferris Wheel is a 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn, spun up with varying shades that give it this gorgeous ombre effect. It’s sold in cake form (definitely a big plus in my book) and it’s nice and light for being a worsted weight yarn. It feels almost wooly to the touch; it has that soft, home-y quality that makes it so nice to work with. I was really impressed with the colors and the overall feel of this yarn, and I’ll definitely be grabbing some more next time I’m at the store!
The Plum Perfect Crochet Cowl is an easy crochet cowl pattern and a quick project designed to showcase the beauty of the yarn. This pattern uses a simple three-row repeat that utilizes basic stitches and a simple border to create a light, stretchy cowl. It’s great for beginner crocheters who want to start expanding their skills, crocheters who just need to use up a particular skein of yarn, those needing a last-minute holiday gift, or those making stock for their craft show booth or farmer’s market stand. Between the easy pattern and the yarn being so nice to work with, you’ll want to make one in every color!
It’s also super versatile! You can wear this cowl a handful of different ways, depending on how you want the fabric to lay. It’s very comfortable, and not overly bulky or stiff, so you could even wear this on a mild fall or spring day.

Reverse single crochet: This stitch (used for the border) is simply the single crochet stitch, but backwards. Instead of working from right to left, you will be working left to right. To start the round, insert your hook into the next full stitch to your right. Yarn over, pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through both loops on hook. This is one reverse single crochet. Continue around the edge, always inserting your hook into the next stitch to the right.

Body
Ch 30.
Row 1: DC in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in the first stitch of the row below your previous row by inserting your hook into the first dc of row 1. This makes a longer stitch. Sc like this in each st across, turn.
Row 4: Ch 2, dc in each st across, turn.
Repeat rows 2-4 until your cowl reaches approximately 28″ long, or until you’re almost out of yarn.
Fold cowl so that the ends line up. Sl st through both corners of your cowl, then continue to sl st through each stitch and chain from the beginning of your cowl. This joins the sides together.
Border
Ch 1, rsc in first st to your right and in each st around. Fasten off.
Attach your working yarn to the other side of the cowl, starting at the seam, with a sl st. Ch 1, rsc in first st to your right and in each st around. Fasten off and weave in ends.
And that’s it! I hope you enjoyed this easy cowl pattern. You can keep going to make this cowl even bigger, or forgo the seaming entirely and turn it into a scarf!
